Eva Brander Blackhawk (Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone) currently lives in Brooklyn NY. She moved to New York to attend Columbia University where she studied Economics and Anthropology, focusing on Indigenous studies. As a student at Columbia, she successfully founded ‘Indigehouse’, a residential brownstone building exclusively for native students, and the only designated space on campus for Indigenous students. She was also the president of the Native American Council, and is deeply passionate about supporting native students in higher education. Since graduating, she now works with the Decolonizing Wealth Project bringing funding to native and Indigenous non-profits across the country. She’s also expanded her Indigenous community from the student group across the city working with community leaders such as Spiderwoman Theater, where she participated and performed in their recent workshop, Relative Arts, where she was modelling for the first Indigenous NYFW, and Urban Indigenous Collective where she volunteers.
