Debra Kawennanoron Stalk (Mohawk, Bear Clan), Indigenous Organizational Consultant is a long time AICH community member, Educator and Artist/Owner of Okwarikowa Originals. She is an enrolled member of the Kahnawake Mohawk Territory in Quebec, Canada and was born in Brooklyn, NY. She comes from a long line of Mohawk Ironworkers in NYC. Ms. Stalk attended Dartmouth College, and went on to complete her BA at New York University. She also holds an MPH degree from Hunter College. Her 25 year career in Higher Education includes Administrative Director for Biomedical Science Education at NYU School of Medicine and serving on the Board for the Society for Advancement of Chicanos & Native Americans in Science. She founded the Native American Mentoring Program at NYU and later went on to serve as the first Director of Admissions for The Commonwealth Medical College in PA. She is also a long time member of the Thunderbird American Indian Dancers in NYC and currently serves the Native American community by creating educational workshops teaching traditional regalia making & beadwork. dstalk@aich.org
