Traditional Iroquois Raised Beadwork- Culture and Design from Historical to Contemporary Perspective

Topics of Discussion: Indigenous and Environmental Activism, we will feature lectures by renowned Indigenous Activist. Topics and history explained through Indigenous perspective.
This class is project-based, students will learn the basic technique of raised beadwork and create a 3D flower Iroquois style. All materials will be supplied by me along with a full beading kit to take home to finish their project.
Trade secrets will be shared to create professionally finished pieces.
• All skill levels welcome, these are small classes so attention to effective individual learning will be applied.
• Small Bead kits will be provided and included in costs. Extended 30 minutes will be available for students to stay and continue beading after class finishes.
• If you have any old necklaces/ chains please bring them, we can recycle and re-purpose them within our project. I will also have some extra haberdashery for you to purchase for future projects if interested. Repurposing is encouraged.
• Bring scissors if you have, if not it’s ok. We can share.

Limited to 8 attendees per session. You can RSVP by purchasing your spot, or if spots are vacant within the 6 limit you can RSVP through comment and pay cash on premise. I will also have a Square credit card reader on deck as well. Please check in so I can prepare the proper amount of beading kits before each class. I will have them available and waiting for you at the workshop.
